Radiation Safety Consulting Services, LLC

Health Physics & Medical Physics Consulting

Qualified physics support for facilities that use radiation.

Radiation Safety Consulting Services, LLC (RSCS) provides health physics and medical physics consulting to clinics, hospitals, and licensees across Utah and the Intermountain West. We support the full scope of a radiation safety program — equipment performance, radiopharmaceutical therapy, shielding design, regulatory compliance, and radiation safety officer services — with the rigor of clinical physics and the practicality of day-to-day operations.

Services

Services are delivered by board-certified physicists and registered state Qualified Experts, against current AAPM, ACR, and NCRP guidance.

Qualified Health and Medical Physics SupportAcceptance and annual evaluations, protocol and dose review, state QE filings.

Acceptance and annual performance evaluations across radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, mammography, MRI, nuclear medicine, and PET, performed as registered Qualified Experts where the state requires one. Reports carry protocol and dose review benchmarked against ACR and national reference levels, and are written so the people running the equipment can act on them.

Radiopharmaceutical Therapy SupportProgram support for Lu-177, Ac-225, Pb-212, Y-90, and I-131.

Program support for facilities starting or expanding therapy with Lu-177, Ac-225, Pb-212, Y-90, and I-131: room and waste design, patient release calculations under Regulatory Guide 8.39, extravasation and event response, and the authorized user and RSO qualifications the license will require.

Shielding Design and EvaluationNew construction, remodels, equipment changes, and workload revisions.

Shielding evaluations for new construction, remodels, equipment replacement, and changes in workload, to current NCRP and AAPM task group guidance. Diagnostic and interventional x-ray, CT, nuclear medicine hot labs, PET/CT, and radiopharmaceutical therapy rooms.

Radioactive Materials LicensingApplications, amendments, and renewals written to be defensible.

New applications, amendments, and renewals for medical, research, and industrial licensees — including the amendments a program needs before it can start a new therapeutic agent. Commitments are written to be proportionate, so the license describes a program you can actually run.

Radiation Safety Officer ServicesNamed RSO, associate RSO, or backup for the one you have.

Named RSO, associate RSO, or physics support to an in-house RSO. Covers the audit, survey, dosimetry, sealed source, and waste program, the reporting a Radiation Safety Committee expects each quarter, and response when an incident or a dose event occurs.

Radiation Safety TrainingInitial and annual training, delivered on site or built for your staff.

Initial and annual training scaled to the facility — radiation workers, ancillary staff, and physicians — delivered on site or built as material your own staff can present. Programs are revised when the rules or your license change, rather than reused year to year.

Who does the work

RSCS work is led by board-certified physicists with doctoral training and experience across clinical medical physics, health physics, and radiation regulation. The individual who evaluates your facility is the individual who signs the report.
